Speaking Of 2 Cent Hardings

Desertgem check the perfs on the 2 cent Hardings on cover..i am just going through junk trying to make room in the computer/stamproom and I found a Oct 15, 2007 Linns where the lead story is a find of a strip of 3 of scott 613 the perf 11 rotary press printing..my 2003 scott A-B catalog has them at $35,000 each..and some lucky devil found a strip of 3..talk about your longshots !

Thanks for the tip! I will try to have a good Karma day and check them later tonight. My brother was very detail oriented and checked perfs on almost every loose stamp of his. But maybe ...If I do.........

Jim - the odds are probably better than for hitting the lottery!

The guy in Maine that found that strip of three has been buying and searching for #613's for more than 40 years and claims he's looked at over 100,000 or more black Hardings ! He has one other #613 that he's found.......not a huge pay-off for his time I'd say.....but I'd accept it given the chance. Very few collectors get to own a #613.

You are right...i forgot about his obsession ...but it paid off ! My goodness if I counted time spent on scanning and describing a 20 cent stamp!!

I found a black 2 cent Harding cover..could they have done a worse job of cancelling ? Also the centering of the stamp ..gee !

This Harding looks to me like a perf 10, poor centering is common on perf 10 Harding issues. If I'm correct that would make it a #612.....matching your post number.........coincidence or subliminal ??

There are no coincidences..thanks for the info..i been interested in stamps of far away places all my life and am now at second grade level regarding the stamps of my own country !! Almost every page I read of the United States stamp encyclopedia I am thinking about a new collecting topic..i guess Bobgggg would accept my worldwide stamps and covers..his wife would beat him senseless and I could start from scratch !
