Something rather odd has happened to me recently and I am posting here to find out if anyone else has experienced the same.

Stampvirgin recently put up for auction a Small lot of Poland.
The image, hosted by ImageShack, did not show up on my screen.
All I could see was a Frog in an Ice Cube !
So SV left a link, but after clicking on the link, all I got was the same pesky frog !
He then offered to send me a scan, but I got busy and forgot to reply. So my apologies to SV for this spate of ignorance!

Yesterday evening I was browsing the forum and came across some posts by member tomiseksj, showing that same Frog in an Ice Cube. I could not recall if I had seen pictures there before so I checked some earlier scans that Stampvirgin posted and got mixed results.
Some with the Frog, some pics hosted, some not and some with the little square box and a red 'x'!. Now I was even more confused

A bit later, I saw a post from new member, G1ebe, who had left a link to his pictures with ImageShack. I clicked on the link and it took me straight to....[I know, you're thinking 'That little Frog in the Ice Cube].....ImageShack, where I was able to view the stamps!

At this point, I wanted to throw my computer in the trash and return to gardening....but I remembered the trimmer didn't work from the day before. So even outside hobbies have frustrations.

If anyone has any ideas about this odd little tale, you can post here.
Alternatively you can give me the rolling eye treatment and move on

Ta.

Just a, pat on the back, and "chin up" support post.

I recently managed to pick up a Google redirecting virus
called "scour", everytime I googled something
it would redirect to an advertising site of some sort or another.

Even my computer guru in the city was unable to fix it.
(he wanders around my computer remotely, I can tell
you that is one weird experience, watching the cursor move around
whilst you are sipping your hot chocolate)

Finally I found a virus detector called "Hitmanpro 3.5"
which killed it in 4 minutes...(sigh of relief.)
Guru thanked me and suggested another weapon against
the evils.

Perhaps you should try running the normal "malware" apps
"Adaware" "Spybot" etc
(even give Hitmanpro 3.5 a shot)

The two main reasons an image is not displayed is either that it has been removed or it is not publicly shared (viewable by anyone with explicitly being authorised).
Any problems with any of the other image hosting sites such as flickr or imagebacket?

Seemingly, I am the only one who cannot see the scans on the forum, at least no one else has mentioned it.

But it's not consistent. I can see some, but not all. I can open some links, but not others. But others can.

Weird.

All other websites I go to are fine. No problems otherwise. Only with this ImageShack which started at the Poland Thread.

LB1,

I recall having seen your post about being unable to view SV's image and checking to see if I was able to view it, which I was.

As for my images, I haven't deleted any prior ImageShack postings so all of mine should be accessible via the links I embedded in my SCF posts.

My Norton 360 has occasionally blocked my ImageShack access, citing a "fake antivirus webpage request" and I have seen the dreaded frog in an Ice Cube once or twice when trying to log in to my account.

I've copied your problem description into an email to the ImageShack host and will post their response as soon as I receive it.

Steve

LB1,
I consistantly have issues with Imagebucket; but have yet to encounter the frog of InageShack, or issues with flicker. I use some spybot software and Microsoft.

londonbus, are you on dial up or high speed?

Sometimes large sized images only load part way and even when I use the image url and load it separately and then do CTRL-F5 to load a fresh image it only loads part way. Sometimes that last works though.

Could be some server somewhere cutting in and figuring you have had enough time to download so thank you and good bye.

Try clearing your cache in your browser (will clear some stuff you probably don't want it to clear) or doing the CTRL-F5 to load a fresh image. Miht be just an internet connectivity problem (don't you just love that word? It's the new Please wait we are experiencing technical difficulties. Do not adjust your screen.).

Sun Spots. Earth tremors. Evil frogs from Venus. The computer memory gremlins. The wee folk making crop circles. What doesn't astound, amazes, and what doesn't amaze, awes.

Landing party here. Three to beam up . . . oh and don't forget the interesting paper fragments, er, stamps.

Puzzler, high speed here so that's not the problem.
A friend in the nearest city has just told me he has a similar problem with a Scottish Auction site.
He cannot see his scans for his sales....and yet I can !

Oh well.....
