My latest must-have item.

From the good-old days of the mail-order giant Montgomery Ward.

It just boggles my mind that they had to expect a two-month turnaround time on an order. I suspect it was an order placed by an executive banker's wife for the latest in American fashions. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Two months is a best-case scenario. The order itself took almost a month to make it to Chicago. Who knows how long it would take the parcel(s) to arrive? On the plus side, it probably took just as long for the news to arrive that the latest fashions are now out of style.

Good point, I had forgotten the parcel travel time. She would still have received the clothing in time for the best part of the roaring 20's.

Thanks CJD. In addition to getting a cover from every country in the world, I also want to get one from every British Colony and protectorate. It is an ambitious task, I realize/

Nice One! I have a bunch of Nigerian KGV just waiting for me to explore! In my notes I have the Foreign letter rate for Nigeria post 1921 at 3d. and the registration rate post 1923 as 3d. This is a very nice example of that rate being paid with one stamp!

What is a post without some eye candy! Here is one of my favorites from this place and time:

No problem, I hope the clown face after - "I have news for you...." is a good thing!

Here is the information I have regarding Nigerian rates for this time period:

Local
(1914-30)
1st Oz. +Additional Oz.

Letter 1d. +1d.
Postcard ˝d. +1d.

EMPIRE1st Oz. +Additional Oz.

Letter 1d.(to 1920) +1d.
2d.(1920+) +1d.

Postcards 1d.

FOREIGN1st Oz. +Additional Oz.

Letter 2˝d.(to 1921) +1˝d.
3d.(1921+) +1˝d.

Postcard 1d.

REGISTRATION FEES - 2d. to1923
3d. 1923+

Now we can all have a note in our Nigerian collections, Nice!

Have a look at this, and for those who don't know, 12 pence equals 1 shilling and/or -> 12d. = 1/-

Have a Good One,

Skilo54

Do you need a cover from Haiti for your collection? I have this one that may help you get a bit closer to World Domination! Give me a shout if you want to, maybe a trade?

Have a Good One,
