Some holes are easy to fill, some aren't. These holes have been, and will continue to be, with me for some time. Unless someone want to step up.... Seriously, aside from ebay does anyone know of a good place to get these at a reasonable price. Note, I need to replace some of the others that have a cut cancell. I don't mind herringbone cancel but a cut cancel is as bad as a tear.

RevenueCollectort alias Dan,

I have been enjoying the hobby for more than 25 years and an have been a APS member for nearly as long. Revenues have been my focus for about as long. Early on I got into the RM & RN series with some interesting documents. My favorite document is an RM stamp on a slave document, "Alice, a slave for life" is so profound that these words will be forever in my mind. In my collection I 4 salve and numerous other indentured servitude documents. One of the most interesting covers is from a Union officer who is writing his wife about the news he just heard concerning the presidents assassination and the hunt for Mr. Lincoln's killer.

A lot of fun doesn't even begin to describe the amount of enjoyment I've had in stamp collecting, its not just the stamps, but the history that goes with it.

I have 3 duplicates of R131 if you're interested. The board won't let me use the message system (I guess you have to have a minimum number of posts? It's not listed in the FAQ or Rules pages... I just get a big red error message saying I'm not allowed to use the email system).

It doesn't take long to get to 50 quality posts. So browse the forums, post some more, get to know everyone and let everyone get to know you, get to the know ALL the rules (including the one that says you cannot buy/sell/trade until you get to 50 quality posts)...

You'll find this to be a very friendly and a quality site. A little patience goes a long way. Before you know it, you'll be able to email/buy/sell/trade in comfort with other established members!

k

Ok, I've just spent the last 10 minutes reading both the FAQ page and "The Rules" page. There's nothing anywhere that says "you are forbidden from sending private messages to another user until you have XX posts."

If there is a hard requirement here to send PMs, I would suggest that it actually be listed somewhere... the way it works right now it presented itself as some sort of a system error or failure.

The Alice slave document has the $1.00 RM375 Maryland Revenue Stamp in the upper right corner. Due to the size of the document, it's in 2 scans and I did not scan the back. The document is dated April 6th 1847 and is very delicate and I hate to open it to its full sise. The 2nd document is an early use of the 1st Federal Revenue Stamps. It is the 75 cent RM103 located in the upper left corner and is dated August 16, 1798. According to Combs' First Federal Issue, the earliest Maryland is a 50 cent used October 17 1798. However, I'm sure there are others out there that will predate mine. Intreesting side notes, the use of Anio Domino within the date is somewhat rare and the speelin gof the stare of Maryland. This document is for a minor aged about 14 years.

I hope you enjoy the scans as much as I enjoy the actual documents.
