I placed a bid on an R131 today on ebay. It didn't look right and found that it wasn't an R131 at all. I contacted the seller to see what the deal is, needing to retract my bid. Looking at more revenues in ebay, I found more misidentified from the same seller. I contacted him on this as well. I have yet to hear back from the seller on either one. According to the ebay rules, a contract is a contract so I'll wait until this seller responds. Any other suggestions?

You always have the right to buyers remorse. As a buyer, a seller can't leave negative feedback and if you can prove it is mis-identified, then no problems should be had not wanting the product. Not to mention that an R131 isn't cheap. if it was in sound condition it should go for a minimum of $200, but $300 + is more realistic.

Here is another misidentified R131

You have to wait until the seller agrees to cancel your bid.

He doesn't have to and then you have to pay and possibly receive and then request return (maybe losing out on shipping depending) for a refund.

You can report his other mis-identified listings and request them withdrawn and your listing also but you had better be able to say exactly why.

For US stamps I think it is usually easier than other country's stamps (them liking to have an expert on their board in that field).

I believe there is a way to cancel your bid without buyers permission. For example if you make a typo and bid 1000 instead of 100. I had to do this not long ago but forget how I did it. Go to your "my ebay" and I think somewhere along the right hand options somewhere at the bottom it will lead you properly. Either that or under the help section type in bid retraction .

This only applies when you will be bidding again immediately with a lower similar bid. Example you typed 1000 = 1000.00 but meant 10.00, missing out on the decimal point. You could retract the 1000 bid and then would have to immediately rebid the 10.00 to satisfy ebay's rules.

Look at the bottom of your My ebay screen and choose the link 'Site Map'. This has (different on different ebay sites) links to what is most frequently requested and under Buying Resources there is Bid Retractions.

Seems pretty c;lear to me.

Reporting the listings (I just looked myself) does not seem to include a choice that says mis-identified other than counterfeit. Now I am not sure about reporting it. Others may know more.

Just got back on line, checked my e-mail and the seller cancelled the bid. He took the 2 items off ebay and will re-list them correctly tomorrow. Too bad because I really was wanting an R131 to fill another hole. That being said, the seller did the right thing, so I'll not bash him and only think he or someone that works for made a FUBAR.

I think you'll find the majority of sellers are straight shooters. Yes there are those that aren't, but in my experience I've found that most, if notified in a proper manner will be very fair and do the right thing.

I've seen both ends of the spectrum when receiving responses from sellers.

There are those that honestly are unaware of their mistake(s) and are thankful for any assistance. Then there are those that are hostile or are confrontational; these are usually the ones that are knowingly selling an item as something it is not. In my collecting world this usually ends up being faked imperf or part-perf revenues, or silk papers that cannot possibly be.

I emailed the seller regarding the one I listed above. He sent me a nice thank you note and ended the auction, so I believe it was an honest mistake......maybe...
