I know most catalogs have a pretty tight protection on what can be posted on the web. With all the varying main catalogs world wide from scotts SG, michel and others there must be some catalog reference sites that are avaiable.
I use the mystic online for US references which is great for general ID . What else is out there. I love posting pics and asking here but there has to be some sites availiable for quick references on other countries. For example if you are looking at an auction picture of interest but there are also other stamps that are unknown to you how can they be checked without physically having the library at hand.
Please post any helpful links.

nitrolures, for Great Britain, the Arthur Ryan site, which is a listing of their stamps for sale, has photos of many of the earlier stamps. Also, there is a dealer named Mark Sargent which has extensive photos with his stamps (also Great Britain). A google search for Mark Sargent should turn him up. Arthur Ryan has a correlation of SG and Scott numbers where possible.

I just googled Mark Sargent. The first item on the google list is what you want.

I think some of the dealer sites are a good reference especially when pics are avaialiable. I know I had googled Japan awhile back and found a great site that was just a dealers listings but generally 1 pic every 5 and enough ro help judge things. I think alot of these retail type sites are probably a better reference than catalogs where value is concerned. No easier way to turn someone away from the hobby than have them see $500 in a catalog and pay $250 thinking it is a great deal only to find it is readily availiable for $50. Once a few more post are up I will copy and make a list at the top of the post. Thanks to all so far.

I use The Swedish Tiger. On of the best sites out there located at www.theswedishtiger.com
The prices may be out of date but the documentation and pictures are great.

Just found this site which is US but links on right hand side to many others.
http://www.stampcatalogue.org/
http://www.stampprice.info/
There are many useful links from these pages with quite a few detailed pictures for references. Only spent a few minutes clicking around but seems very useful.

When looking up stamps of Canada, including the provinces, I find this site easier than using my catalogues:

These are the links I use the most when researching:

WNS (issues published by member countries, as official as it gets):
http://www.wnsstamps.ch/en/

List of postal authorities:
http://digilander.libero.it/fabioal...philbur.html

Browsing by country gives idea what issues were (I get some info about new issues way before they show up in Michel Online)
http://www.postbeeld.com/en/fsc/sea...sh_year+desc

Pics of new issues and dates, also available before any catalog entry - so far no cinderellas got in:

Chasa, Great job on the Alabama Precancel Catalog.
Question of the HANDSTAMP DATED CONTROLS used by G.C. or N.F.C. What are the many cities!
Or is the answer buried in the catalog.
Maybe I'll get around to a MN catalog.
Mike

I used www.kosel.at
It's a dealer but he has photos and Michel no. for almost all the stamps from the last years and I found it great.
