LOL I am sure others have figured this out but as I was asking around last week no one was really sure how to soak the self stick stamps... I continued my search and found that it really just comes down to time... longer soak and they will dislodge...

so having some duplicates and the desire to get a lot of new stamps free of paper I decided to attempt it in 2 bowls... one for a short soak (under 30 minutes) and another for a long soak (over night as described where I got the info)

so the first bowl was a bust 25 minutes and the stamp tore with gental handling... my first thought was oh man the other will never hold up....

walking by the bowl 2.5 hours later I noted the stamp had come off and was sitting at the bottom... so I carefully retrieved it and set it on my drying sponge and this morning its in perfect shape!!! it can be done

Not to pop your balloon, but..... some do soak some do not, depends on the issue, type of adhesive, paper, ink, printer. But don't let that discourage you, I myself have tried some baths of chemicals known to cause cancer in laboratory animals in the state of California in an attempt to float some paper.

Use the search button at the top and you'll find several topics here about soaking the unsoakable.

And we (SCF) went through all the bestine and orange glo options long before they appeared in Linn's and the American Philatelist.

SCF --- on the cutting edge!

LOL I looked and will continue to post as I hit walls or find ways to over come this .. there must be a way and I am far to stubborn to let it go LOL... today I will attempt to get more soaked so I may find a stubborn one or two (i hope) and then the battle begins... I am not so proud that I can not admit defeat but I am also very very into finding ways to accomplish the impossible...

good on ya, Go for it
Soaking is a good learning experience, observing ease of release from the paper, extent of curl, etc. and how each stamp/paper combo is different. As an investigative activity, you will likely sequences of -- ------ -- --
I know I do.

If you keep at it you can write a great book "The Postage Stamp Soakers Handbook", which will need to be continually updated.
Awaiting your next installment

Have researched and I am able to take all
Australian stamps off paper with ease
and have a very low failure rate.

In the kiloware section there is
" We Close our Eyes and Still See Stamps"
There is a lot on soaking in this thread.

Always Happy Stamping. KGV
