Hi!

Anybody collecting the 2009 Preserve the Polar Region and Glacier issues being issued by over 50 countries? Lots of stamps/ms/covers were issued and wondering if anyone here collects them apart from me.

[edit: Sorry, these websites are not about 2009 Preserve the Polar Region issues, just about polar philately in general --ks]

It is Polar Philately but just one of the worldwide issues of the program.

I only have the USA issue. I found many of the other stamps and sheets to be very attractive that I have seen.

I have almost collected all of them except two or three. If there were fellow collectors here, it would have been nice to share. The issues itself make up a nice theme.

I really like the Iceland souvenir sheet. An example is shown in the link indieguy provided. One of the red inks used to print the stamp is heat sensitive -- disappearing when heated and then reappearing as the heat dissipates. That heat sensitive red ink was used to print the diagonal lines showing the current ice coverage.

A very innovative stamp printing!
