I received this in today's mail and thought it a bit odd -- I don't recall seeing a cancelled meter before but I'll admit that I don't pay close attention to stampless covers of the modern era.

Do any forum members collect meters that have been cancelled?

While I don't particularly collect them, that is a nice example you have. You are correct in that these sort of meters do not typically get cancelled, but it does happen. Could have been just a piece or two that went through the cancelling machine in error. At least the spray-on cancel is legible.

...But wait! I think it may have to do with the meter being dated April 25, 2011 and the postmark dated April 26, 2011. It could have been that the date indicated on the meter was in error. Another possibility is that the piece of mail may have been found stuck in a box or mailbag, resulting in the post office intentionally cancelling the meter stamp to verify the date the piece was actually posted. Not a definitive answer, but a distinct possibility.

Although some collectors may look down on these sort of things as nothing to bother to collect, others collect them quite actively, as they are a vital piece of today's postal history, even if it doesn't bear a "stamp".

I have a fairly decent meter collection of US 1920 - 1935, but none with cancels as I have never seen one of the early US Meters with a cancel.

They do happen occasionally. Here are a few examples from my collection during the period of 1935-1959 ... however, I must say that with the hundreds I have, I was only able to pick out these five examples with cancels:

I do! I collect metered stamps and pay particular attention to those that are cancelled. Your's is particularly fascinating because of the unusual color of the cancel.

I also noticed the "green" color. Maybe they changed the color of the spray on for Earth Day the previous Friday?

I just came across this one at work. I don't collect them but found it interesting.
