Yes I was almost caught on that also (US, US post, United States, USA, etc.). This one is just killing me.
So as I see it the count is at 5, correct? |

I guess you have to tell us which other ones there are, no-one seems to be able to find them... I have looked through the catalogue front to back, back to front twice and have not been able to spot the missing ones. |

Quote: 1920 was the three hundredth anniverary of the Landing of the Pilgrims in Massachusetts, and Plymouth, Mass. held a celebration. The USPOD was persuaded to issue the stamps below, Scott 548-550, to honor the event. To my knowledge these stamps (and Scott 1208) are the only US postage stamps that do not have our country's name on them. This caused quite an uproar at the time. There was even a rumor the omission had been unintentional, and the stamps would be recalled and redone, but the USPOD denied any error, and issued this statement:
There is no necessity for the name, as the stamps are fully identified and authenticated to the postal service in a notice, of which a copy is attached. Any additional lettering would have overcrowded designs which required all of the spaces assigned to them. - (Johl, The United States Commemorative Stamps of the 20th Century, Vol 1, p.75)
Aside from these, all US stamps, and those of all other countries, include the country name, EXCEPT for those of Great Britain. The previous information taken from the National Postal Museum. I am starting to wonder if somebodys having a good laugh by us chasing this- |

I'm not sure what the Scott # is but if not mistaken there was a Christmas stamp from the 70's (if my memory is serving me correctly) that doesn't have any of the U.S., U.S.A., United States markers on it.

Well that was another wild beaver chase. Just went through all the 70's Christmas issues (and the rest of the 70s issues, as well) and everything was identified. Same for the Christmas stamps of the 60's. Anyone else have that issue of Scott Stamp Monthly? |

Ahhhh my bad. It's Scott #'s 1579, 1580 that I was thinking of. It's the denomination that is missing from them not the country. Sorry bout that guys. |
