I am metagrobolized with this one,
Can anyone suggest where I may find
this listed in Stanley Gibbons please .

I understood it would be in Syria : Military Occupation
but none of my catalogues show it, that I can see.

I have looked under French Colonies, Cilicia,
Turkey etc.

Thanks

Hi Rodney,

You're right, it's a Turkish postcard surcharged for the French occupation of Syria (and with Turkish stamps similarly surcharged)._

The stamps appear to be left to right SG Syria 68e, 68f and 68g. These were issued in Ain Tab which matches the postmark. Used prices are £85, £75 and £75 respectively (2005).

A very interesting and attractive item Rod.

SG comment that:

Quote:
Though Ain-Tab (now Gaziantap) was in Cilicia, 20 miles north of the Syrian border, in an area where French troops were fighting the Turkish Nationalists, the stamps were overprinted "Syrie".

Thank you very much gentlemen,
Would someone be kind enough to post
a page that carries them from Gibbons?

I was remiss in not broadcasting the postcard
is from the internet, currently for auction at 200 euros
and not mine, but was ideal to illustrate the stamps.

Here is all I have in my Gibbons
No Turkish stamps shown overprinted.
Thanks very much.
