Got my first Zep today - the green 65-cent one of course! But now what do I do?
-Mount it in the album on that empty page? -Seal it on a card in a safe place? -Put it in the safe deposit box? -Stay up all night guarding it?
I'm stressing out!

Scan it, make a facsimile for your album, sell it and relax...what's all the fuss?

Well, you've done the right thing for a start. The hardest step is recognising you have a problem. Then you come to SCF - Stamp Counselling Forum Relax, enjoy. Your stamp is in no immediate danger. I would imagine its a bit like having a newborn baby in the house, a heightened level of conciousness and constant checking its OK! Parenthood will get easier as time goes on... |

Once you have read stampgal's post through a few times, take a few deep breaths. Then mount it in your album with the rest of your stamps.
If you can't bring yourself to mount the stamp in your album, follow Rod's advice. |

I'm a firm believer in scanning your valuable items and creating a digital inventory. It will likely be cheaper to insure your collection, than to rent a safe deposit box so check with your insurance agent then enjoy looking at your new favorite stamp!

step 1) breath deep step 2) get a nice mount for it step 3) put the stamp in the mount and in the book step4) take pictures step 5) make it your desk top image step6) repeat step 1 a few more times and relax
if you are unable to folow any of these steps feel free to mail the stamp to me and I will return to you a video of me doing the above steps... LOL |

As applied to United States stamps, zep, which is short for zeppelin, refers to Scott numbers C13, C14 and C15. They were issued for the flight of the Graf Zeppelin between the US and Germany. They are rather expensive to get, the prices being very sensitive to condition. A set of used in less than very fine condition can be had probably for between 500 and 1000 dollars. (someone can probably give a more accurate range)
Scott C18 is called the "baby zep" because of it being a lower denomination and because it is much lower in price than the other Zeppelins. |

Dear bearwithfish, when you are done with the zep would you please send to me for verification. I want to make sure that Scouter did not get cheated. Scouter I will send you a letter with my findings about the authenticity of the stamp. At that point you can decide if you would like me to put together a facsimile for you. :-) Jeff |

Scouter, congratulations on acquiring your zep. Don't fret over having one "lonely" stamp on a page. Don't look at it as an "orphan" and give it a negative connotation. I am always happy to place a stamp on a blank page because I hate blank pages. Don't worry, be happy. Regards Mike |
