Pls. Help Confirm ID On Canal Zone Stamps.

Hi there folks,

I would like to ask for some help identifying the following stamps correctly? I would appreciate any and all feedback or comments, and Thank-you for your time!

I believe all these overprints to be TypeB- letter 'A' with sharp pointed tops, but looking at the scans I am not sure?

Stamp #1-3:
Canal Zone 1925-26
#73 (A157) 2c. Carmine
or
#84 (A157) 2c. Carmine







Stamps #4:
Canal Zone 1925-26
#78 (A169) 15c. Gray
or
#90 (A169) 15c. Gray

I have limited knowledge of Canal Zone stamps, but in looking at the illustrations in a Scott Specialized Catalog I would agree that the 2-cent is a CZ #84 and the 15-cent a CZ #90.

That's my best guess, anyway. Let's see if anyone else responds to this with a different answer.

Thanks wt1, I appreciate you looking through your catalogue and posting your thoughts! From the tiny pic in my Scott Catalogue it looks like the flat top to the 'A' is substantial and the right leg of the 'A' is also thicker looking than the TypeB overprint. My exposure to these is minimal so I am also hoping that someone can comment specifically on this element.

These are all pointed to A's - however.... stamp #1 is undoubtedly Scott#97 the perf-10. The other 2-cent stamps are probably Scott#101 the perf 11x10 1/2. Its difficult to differentiate the #84 and #101 from a scan as the difference in perforations running vertically are slight.

Thanks for the insight chasa! I will compare my stamps to your observations and am sure I will be able to ID them properly now. I am happy to increase my knowledge of the Canal Zone overprints! I appreciate you taking the time to post your thoughts!
