Would any member know what was this stamps purpose, was any writing required in space provided, if so, has anyone a correctly used one to show Please.

Registered mail, most likely. This is a local stamp so may not show up in the regular catalogs.

Thank you 22crows. I cannot explain, but this stamp has something about it I like. Common and valueless it may be, but I treasure it, 'collector syndrome'.

Scott and Yvert both list this as a Registration stamp from 1899, for the Colombian department/state of Antioquia. In Scott it is Antioquia F3; in Yvert it is timbres pour lettres recommandees #3.

The writing in the space "No." is the post office registration number as entered by the postmaster. Unfortunately I have a bunch of used ones but no scanner.
