Hi to all

I thought I might share my meagre collection of Bavarian Stamps.

The perfin says JMR

Those embossed center design stamps have always been favorites of mine. You get the feel and touch as well as the look. Nice colours also. Thanks for showing.

I've never seen a private perfin on a Bavarian stamp before.

I'll have to investigate this when I get time.

I have a listing of a few dozen Companies in Danzig that used Perfin's. I have never seen a list for Bayern/Bavaria though. I also would be interested in seeing one, if it exists.

Hi to all,

This is the only German stamp I have found so far with a perfin.
I am intrigued now as to who the perfin refers to.
That is what I love so much about this forum, Everybody helps and some-one always comes up with an answer.
Regards and thanks to all

Here is a cover on ebay .ch (Switzerland) from Bavaria (Bayern) with the same stamp and perfin JMR.

Listing Title: Bayern 1898-09-27 Drucksache 3 Pf. Perfin "JMR" > CH

(Drucksache translates in Google to printed matter.)
( > CH means sent to Switzerland)

I have not tried to translate the card's hand-writing.

I have a scan of Bavarian perfins (not mine)...this particular perfin isn't included, but I'll put the scan here anyway, for those who might be interested in seeing more Bavarian perfins:

The resource which probably answers this question is

Needham, John. 1990. Catalog of Bavarian Perfins, The Perfins Club. [67 pages]

I've thought about it once or twice, but never pulled the trigger.

If this perfin originates in Würzburg, then one possible answer might be Julius-Maximilians-Universität, though I can't explain the R. Might be worth adding to Google search strings, though...it was likely the biggest thing going on in Würzburg at the time...

Hi there,

I think the Bayern Coat of Arms Issue one of the more classy issues out there. I like the intricacy of the design.

Although not on a Coat of Arms, I can add this one into the mix, on a Prince Regent Luitpold 3pf:

I get F.K.N.

Have a good one,

Skilo54

One more Bavarian perfin. I'd have to say it looks like a lyre with a downward-pointing arrow.

For the time being, it is still a noid...unless someone recognizes it...
