I just today looked up The recipient of a post card I have from 1882 a Horace G. Chase II Hopkinton, New Hampshire. I found all sorts of history. His father (of the same name) Was a Grand Master Mason and the first living Grand Master to have a lodge named in honor of him. The lodge is still in Peacock, New Hampshire today Horace Chase Lodge #72 F,&A,M.
The son ran a Firm in Chicago called Chase Bros. and Company. During the great Chicago fire His firm and a couple others were able to rescue most of their records and merge into one company. They saved enough records that chaos was averted in determining who owned what in Chicago. The Company eventually became Chicago Title Co.
