My wife dabbled in stamp collecting for many years, and for the past 20-30 years hasn't done much but collect a bunch of stamps from some friends/family in Holland and (mostly) Australia. She recently passed away. I have probably several thousand stamps including some stamp collecting books that I would like to offer to someone or some group that would appreciate them. I know absolutely nothing about stamp collecting, but would be happy to try to answer any questions. Email with inquiries or advice/suggestions.

I just hate to toss them.

Jerry

You got it. I'll box them up and let you know what shipping will be. Email your address and I'll let you know. Many, many of these were sent by her friend in Box Hill, Sth Vic (wherever that is).

I don't think that rule covers Giveaways.

That depends on how one interprets the RULES.

emails cannot be exchanged before a certain number of posts so I guess it means giveaways too.

I am sure one of the Mods will keep us in check !

I think a give-a-way would be OK myself.

Trouble is, the Stamp Community email system will not allow communication until 50 posts are reached (and 14 days). If one of you wishes to you could post your ebay or Delcampe or something user name and the other could contact you through than means.

Posting email addresses is not a good idea without almost immediately erasing them, for privacy sakes if nothing else.

I think so also.

Privacy and trust issues should not be compromised for anyone.

It would depend on who is giving away.

Does it work one way only ? Because a new member coming here and accepting 'freebies' would be mightily frowned upon. [and has been in the past I believe].

I personally would not send money to someone I haven't had time to talk with for at least the 50 posts. Even if the deal seems to be good. Just think about how much the shipping will be(it will be a ton)and ask yourself do I trust this person.

Nothing personal jmccoy4661.

It's OK, just wait until you have the appropriate amount of post [as per the rules] and then it'll all be good if it's meant to be. There is no need to get in trouble as everyone here seems very kind and very reasonable. I apologize in advance for stirring the pot so-to-speak...I'm not trying to get involved but it does seen a little bit to good to be true. please proceed with caution if you decide to proceed at all. This is a very nice place to be.
