The stamp itself is nothing special, with several short perfs, but I haven't seen that many clear military manuscript cancels. This one is nice in that it is on a large denomination.
The cancel is from the U.S. Army Quartermaster General's Office.
I'd venture a guess that military cancels on revenues are either uncommon or rare. Other than for taxes/fees associated with the sale of surplus government property, I can't think of any other reasons for their use. Any information on military uses would be appreciated.
dear revenuecollector, that is a poor, small, out of focus, discolored, representation of a scan. Could you please send the stamp to me so I could see it.
