My name is Mark. I'm originally from the US but I've been living the expat life for about 14 years. Currently, I'm in Oman. Prior to this, I was in Qatar and Turkey and other places in between.
I've been collecting stamps on and off since I was 6. My last big binge into stamps was after I got out of the military and was in college. I realized I needed a better hobby than drinking. I had to let things lapse a bit when I went back overseas but I still dabble in it. My main interests are Germany and Turkey and whatever worldwide stuff catches my eye.

Sure you will like it here so don't be a stranger.
You'll find much of interest and loads of fun.

Come and Post often....get out of that Oman heat and into your Air-con romm for some philatelic fun.

I plan on getting back into collecting ASAP as I live in a small town about 90 minutes away from Muscat. So, there isn't much to do here. My Turkey and Germany (West) collection are in Minkus albums and at home with my wife in Turkey. So, I'll go and retrive them from there and buy a nice new HE Harris Statesman album when I'm in the US this summer. I plan on picking up as many recent issues from Oman as they come out. I've noticed that the MNH stuff from Oman and Qatar seems to pick up in value as well as interest!

Hello babateacher, welcome!

Any hexagon postal marks/cancels on Turkish stamps I would love to hear about, or even hexagon-shaped Oman stamps.

Hey Puzzler,
I'm pretty new to Omani Philately but I plan on solving that problem soon. I'm sure there has to be a stamp club in Muscat, so I'm sending out some feelers now. At home in the US I have the whole set of Round silver stamps that Oman issued in the late 60s or early 70s. I'm not sure about others. I picked up a few souvenir sheets of the RASGAS commemorative stamp while I was in Qatar. It's in the shape of a drop of oil with drop shaped stamps. I'll try to find a scan of it someplace.
