Quote: why do U.S. citizens call it MATH when it's MATHS I guess it really depends on what part of the world you grew up. According to the etymology in the dictionary, the word "MATH" originated ca1890. Later, the word "MATHS" came into play; primarily British in origin starting in 1911. So you can consider both ways correct. It's like asking, why do you speak English with an accent... |

That could be a plan as I love to travel and a hotel is cool with me. Just a thought here- I have PLENTY of land (and a cabin on it) if your into camping. I built a giant fire-pit out of mountain stone and can't wait to fire it up! Just et me know ahead of time if you ever take a notion to come this way. I live in Clearfield County now- Curwensville to be exact. Are you close? |

I am feeling pretty crummy today myself, Jeffrey. Sometimes things just pile up and up, and you have to vent. Hobbies have always been important to me because they can help keep your mind off of bad things, like a health problem. My boyfriend is waiting for a second kidney transplant, and it is no fun trying to stay positive for him. It is also hard to do when you feel crummy yourself. But I'd be a pretty nasty person if I didn't help him out...
Soooo, from one crummy-feeling person to another: get enjoyment out of whatever you can. If posting here helps you, DO IT. If collecting takes your mind off things, DO IT. Today, my hobbies are not helping me get out of the doldrums, but typing this to you just might help... If you try and hang in there, I will...

This thread makes me feel like I've found the right place to be everyday (here on SCF) I think this has become much more than just an archival program for stamp information. It truly is family. best wishes to you all, and though I cannot relate completly, I am human and know how it feels to be overwhelmed, down in the dumps, and as Oprah says "All pain is the same"...this thread shows we are all very compassionate people. We very obviously get much more out of stamps by being on SCF. :) You people are amazing :) Take care everyone. ~Ash |

Jeffrey Keep busy not worry. And stamp collecting is a good hobby. But me since i'm a SCF member it's like an addiction. I spend much more time on the net than actually in my collections. Being part of the SCF family and enjoying the hobby help to have a positive attitude that may not cure diseases but make life easier. Good bless you. Daniel |

Thank you Skilo54 I just received your letter today and I am just blown away! Much thanks to you and if I can ever assist you in acquiring anything by all means let me know! I'd be thrilled to return the gesture! I didn't know you designed stamps! I'm going to frame that 'lil bugger and put it next to my chair on the wall in my den. It'll look great! Man you all really know how to cheer a fellow up! Today is a very trying day and I really needed that this afternoon! EDIT:Hey Skilo54 - I just re-read that post (with the pics in it) How did you know I was a Deadhead? I got some stuff for you now! Do you like the Allman Bros? The Grateful Dead (if so what era)? C.S.N.&Y? or Neil Young by chance? I hope so cause I'm gonna seriously weigh down your mailman & your mailbox! and sneak in some philatelic stuffs too (of course) -Laterz |

Hey I_Love_Stamps, Right-on! I am glad your letter arrived safely and that it put a smile on your face! That is what I was hoping for and you in return have made mine by reading your post! That cinderella I designed was printed by a friend down in Australia and auctioned to raise funds for the horrible flooding that occurred there in recent months. It is unique because only 17 sheets were printed and only two of those made it to North America. One and a half of those sheets are in private hands (grandma, mother-in-law, son etc.) leaving only a few to be mailed from here in Canada! It sounds like you will be giving it an amazing home, Thanks! I guess I took a shot "In the Dark" as to whether you were a fan or not. Maybe picked up the vibes you were puttin' down! I have been into the GD for about 20 years now, and was lucky enough to see the band play their final shows in '95. I am a big fan and like everything from Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions to the last note played! Favorite song/album/show? Couldn't tell ya, cause I love almost everything! My other favorites, Gram Parsons and The Flying Burrito Bros., New Riders of the Purple Sage, Early Stones and I do like Neil Young too! For anyone reading this not familiar with Gram Parsons, please click below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2LtJ7AKUrcBeautiful, anyways I am really happy your letter arrived today and you like it! Have a Good One, and Take Care of Yourself bro! Skilo54 |

I love it! I think I have some Gram Parsons and Rick Danko (I collect bootlegs) Gram is from the Flying Burrito bros. line up right? It's a shame we lost him so early. He has a lot of really great music. NOT to be confused with Allen Parsons...lol How about the Festival Express! I freaking LOVE that! OK well I'll definitely hook you up with some awesome tunes and some stamp goodies too! ~Peace That is a really cool dancing bears set up there. I actually had Bear (Stanley Owsley) make my wife and I's wedding bands out of platinum. He lived in Australia and I used to chat with him on occasion on yahoo messenger. He was a grump. lol~ OK man I'll start picking out stuff tonight to send to ya! OOH Emmy Lou Harris too on your link! |

Wow Aussie Al There are some real treasures in that satchel you sent me. I just got to sit down and go through a lot of it. I never collected Australia postage but I think I do now thanks to you. I just felt compelled to re-iterate my thanks to you. And you too Skilo45. Very kind of all of you. |
