Best wishes for a "pleasant" and .... 35 years of deciphering kids' handwriting has not gone in vain. |

Looks to me like: "With love to all and best wishes for a pleasant and happy Christmas...Aunt Margaret."
Then below it: "Write." |

PLEASANT -- yes. I was struggling with that word. I figured out the strange way she write a 'p' -- looks like a line followed by an 'e' Makes PLEASANT look like a 10-letter word Kirk |

Quote: Makes PLEASANT look like a 10-letter word Aunt Margaret was probably a woman of few words -- when confronted with so much white space to fill on that card she tried her best to fill the void. Where are the deltiologists when you need them??? |

Great reply, rod222. I was looking at that card for about a half hour before I realized the words were "presume" and "Have".
As mentioned on another thread, if we stop teaching our children "cursive handwriting" who will be able to read this in the next generation? |

I reckon I am also turning slightly "postcard & cover", adding a few relevant ones to my German collection at the moment. I bought this for the Motor Show cancellation. The sender writes "I trust you have had a very good holiday and have returned fit to knock over a house". When I first read it I thought I had stumbled on a spy ring, sounds like it's in code! Maybe it's industrial sabotage at the cigarette company? DavidR (Hope the scan comes through OK) |
