Hi to all. I've just joined and need help!! I used to collect stamps when I was a young buck. Found girls, beer, cars football etc. Now i've just dug up my old collection, witch I collected myself, plus with help from my late grandfather and his friends. Now after 40years i've dug out the old suit case and found some beautiful stamps, coins, postcards, banknotes etc from all over the world i've found in a very short time some quite RARE Stamps and worth a bit of money and wish to sell them gradually,do I start here? HELP!!

I am also new here, and joined for the same reason...to research the stamps that I have and eventually sell them. In order to buy/sell/ trade in this forum, you first need to post 50 meaningful posts....Not hello's, yeah/s etc, but get involved. You are also required to be a member for 14 days. This is an excellent resource to help identify stamps, and meet other collectors as well as sellers. Pictures of whatever you are asking about will always help answer your questions....there are other topic threads about that for you to read up on. As far as identifying and selling what you have discovered....you always have the options of doing business with the usual suspects.....EBay, Delcampe, and numerous other sites on line. Extremely high end stamps will always bring you the most money if sold in high end auction houses, but generally speaking, those auction houses want possession of your stamps 2-3 months prior to the actual auction date and you get paid anywhere from 15 to 60 days after the auction.
Scanning, editing, researching, and cataloging stamps can be a tedious task, to say the least. If selling your stamps is a necessity, there are many individuals in here that can point you in the direction of potential buyers of the specific countries, and/ or topics that you possess. If you read the threads above regarding buying/ selling/trading...you will see that the moderators and founders of this website frown upon your efforts to do what you are trying to do, before you meet the time and postings requirements. I hope this helps....have fun with your collection...I am sure that there are many collectors here dying to see what you have available and we all are looking forward to your first images of your collection. questions?......just ask....
It also helps to go to the introduction page and tell us a little about yourself.

David

Don't be too quick to sell your collection, you might find out that you still enjoy the hobby. Give it time to cool off before you do anything. Beside, you just found them, right?

You need to post a few pics of what you think are worth the most and let the experts tell you if you do have a worthwhile collection. Maybe after you find out you will decide to continue in the hobby.
