Just got done processing my new acquisitions from last weekend. Nothing earth shattering, but some nice cancels and a few neat documents.
First, a nice photographer stencil cancel. Stencil cancels are fairly uncommon. While not the crispest strike in the world, it's a nice California usage. Picked it up for under $5; if this were in Eric's or Richard's inventory, it would likely be priced in the $75-150 range.

A nice custom house cancel, also from California. Nice handstamp strikes on 2nd and 3rd issue revenues are MUCH less common than on 1st issues. Herringbone and other cut/punch cancels had become much more prevalent.

A nice SON cancel; unsure of the company.

Simon de Visser cancel. I like this particular design, and go out of my way to acquire them whenever I see them; I'd like to see how many different stamp types I can get examples of. Found in blue, black, and red inks.

Very nice printed cancel from Samuel Hart & Co. (playing card company).

Nice dual handstamp strikes.

Contrasting red processing cancels on a part perf.

Insurance company cancel.

Someone's attempt at repairing a punch cancel. They went through the effort of re-inking the missing parts of the "LIQUIDATED" cancel.

Nice railroad cancel.

Semi-local cancel. I always keep an eye out for Illinois usages, especially smaller towns.

Hideous stamp, but LOVE the cancel. Another (earlier) Samuel Hart cancel.

Very nice red printed A.T. Shallenberger (patent medicine) cancel.

Another nice west coast merchant cancel.

Now the documents...
A matching pair of CDVs from a Bloomington, IL photographer. I bought these primarily because they are nice mixed usages, something you don't see very often. Appears to be copies of the same photo; notice that the photographer's mark on the front is in different colors.

A decent illegal usage of postage as revenue.

A very cool check from the American Flag Gold Mining Co. of Colorado. Nice handstamp cancel strike as well.

Lastly, a nice insurance policy showing postal use on one side and revenue on the other, with a nice handstamp cancel to boot. I love the engravings of the policy itself. Had to cut the ends short as my scanner is not large enough to do the full document.
