After lurking in for about 2 months into this forum I register today, and I hope to meet new fellow stamp hobbyists.
I'm 27 years old,I was born in Lithuania which at that time was a part of the Soviet Union,so being at the age of 5-6 years old I had chance to witness Red Army tanks rolling in my city streets while I was building castles in the sandbox at the Soviet style kindergarten playground. And on special occasions usually on may 1st(workers day),and may 9th(victory day) if there were no shortage of anything a biplane known as kukuruznik(Antonov-AN2) flew over our heads and dropped tons and tons of candies with propaganda labels or some important announcements(ohh I wished I could save them all I would be making a truckloads of money right now ...I guess I went off topic a bit ...because in the land of our friend Lenin making money is morally unacceptable-you have to make value and friendship, not money!
As I was 5-7years old I clearly remember my grandpa who used to travel across the whole Soviet Union and to their "friends" as the Cuba,Vietnam,Ethiopia,Angola. He one time brought me a big blue German made stockbook(I wish I could get it back purely of the sentimental value), and after every single trip brought some stamps which happened to be mostly Russian,Cuban,Vietnamese. And I remember looking to these stamps with the biggest curiosity and arranging them by the color(not the country or the topic),and the two weeks later re-arranging by the size...it was a blast for me! As I'm residing now in the States I'm rediscovering this great hobby once again, and I hope it will stay with me 'till I can show it to my grandchildren one day :)
... so I just wanted to say that my collecting interest are Lithuanian air post from the first independence(1918) up to WWII and while I'm actually close to finishing it.I'm thinking about enlarging the air post collection to Russian stamps up to WWII.... but oh God the prices for this material it's just through the roof and to the moon.....so I guess I'm sticking to my Lithuanian stamps for the moment... I've got a feeling I'm gabbing as 80 year old with not so distant memories :) I gotta stop now.

Some have tried and it was declined, but the turtle lady from Italy has her image (with a big turtle also though) and Desert Gem also I think but from a long time ago. Most members have a stamp or image from a stamp.

Hmmm, I have a personal stamp with my picture on it, I have never thought to try to use that instead of a cat. I like the cat also though.
