I know I corrected Nitro's Spanish before. I promise not to correct anyone's English, even if their thread title is misspelled.

Personally, I don't mind a bit of chit-chat in an auction thread, so long as it doesn't go way off topic. Most of the conversation in that thread (at least the early part) was a discussion on a particular country's habit toward decent cancellations. And with most of the postings, an auction price was present.

8 of the 15 replies are completely irrelevant to the selling of the item. That's eight times it gets thrust back into the active topics and the members that are here to discuss stamps and couldn't care less about buying and selling have to weed through it.

Perhaps the auction threads shouldn't get added to the active topic list (much like the intro forum), then people wouldn't be pestered by the auction threads, unless they are interested in them and then go looking at those forum entries.

I like when their added to the active topics as I can usuall keep up with any item I'm bidding on. Any banter on the auction threads is kind of neat sometimes and usually adds to the provenance of the stamp as it's usually info about them. Just my 2¢.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm sure someone will,, but stampvirgin's initial topic was about too many auctions on this site which I guess is becoming a distraction for some folks. Fair enough. So I can see a separate area for auctions as a perfect answer.
But how did this become about banter on those auction threads? And has it gotten so bad that Admin has to get involved and legislate when and where discussions or comments can or can't take place?
Admin, have there been complaints about this?
We know discussions can get out of hand and distract from the matter at hand, and even hijack, albeit temporarily, an auction, but in the end, don't the items get sold?
Sometimes with a little entertainment?

i am guilty of injecting comments like "nice stamps" but too many comments can cause confusion and take away from the true purpose of the auction !! Good night Amen !!

You bet there's been complaints. You bet I will legislate, that's my job, to keep order here. Banter not related to selling does NOT belong in the selling threads. They are for selling. Unrelated comments there give the appearance that there is more selling than there is and irritates members that couldn't care less about it.

The banter on the auction, especially comments by the knowledgeable folks here, helps us newbies appreciate some of finer points of the stamps, such as when they point out some nice cancellation, some quirkiness about a stamp etc.

Just my opinion.

when the new auction/sale setup is implemented here it will be raised to 250 to sell. It will remain 50 to buy.

I've been guilty of thanking my bidders and apologize to any who have taken offense -- I will no longer do so to avoid any further irritation.

When can we anticipate the change to the new system?

Admin... Im a little confused.. When I sign on to the site, I hit the active topics, and the popup comes uo.. "Since my last Visit "

If I choose not to see the active topics that relate to auctions, I simply do not look in that section..

By the way, I took the time to visit the coin auctions, and I must tip my hat to you... Great Format
