Hello, I got this cover today and thought I would post it It is a 1931 New Zealand cover with a strip of 3 1926 Sc#184. It was posted from Taupiri to Berne, Switzerland via Port Napier. I found a small paragraph about Taupiri on Wikipedia and posted it here.
Thanks
David

Taupiri is a small township on State Highway 1 and the Waikato River north of the town of Ngaruawahia and south of Huntly in the Waikato Region. The Mount Taupiri burial place is to the north of the township and directly above the highway and railway line on a steep slope. Parking and access is difficult, because the road and railway lie largely on land at the foot of the slope that has been reclaimed from the river

Yes, that right. We call it Taupiri Mountian (but it's just a hill).
It's where local Maori Chiefs and Royalty and people of great Mana (respected people) are buried.
Every time I drive past their I say "Hi Billy" as Billy T James, your greatest Maori comedian is buried their.

The Maori Queens burial their was live on TV here in NZ a couple of years ago. Her body came down the river on a large Maori war canoe (Waka)... it was an amazing scene. And a very hallowed place.

Regards
Gavin

Hi Gavin, Thanks for the additional information. I am sure that isn't something you get to experience very often.
