Hello,
My name is Ray I'm new to collecting and didn't actually realize people collected stamps. I was thinking about starting a stamp collection this summer. Do you have any advice for a newbie.

Welcome Ray!

If you haven't actually thought of what kinds of stamps you want to collect, might I suggest a topical collection as a beginning. This exposes you to many different countries and types of stamps and usually is inexpensive to start. A topical collection as it is named consists of stamps of one topic. Such as stamps of trains, dogs, flowers, famous people, the number "7", stamps that have pictures of stamps ( stamps on stamps~ somewhat popular), scientists, insects, snakes, christmas, etc.

There are so many nice people on this forum, we can't wait to help you. We all started with questions ourselves, so join right in.

Jim

Welcome to the stamp community, graycolor!

Since you are just starting out, I would suggest that you take some time looking through the forum and seeing what catches your eye. One of the best things about stamp collecting is that you can decide exactly what to collect, based on whatever interests you, and there is a lot to choose from. Please don't hesitate to ask questions.
