#s 75 And 77...

I stopped to look at an album page this evening that was
almost complete. I don't stop on this page much, and
marveled to see that it was only missing 2 stamps.
It is the 1861-1866 page.

The stamps that are on the page now are very nice indeed.
They are used, but the eye appeal is there.

Anyway, I thought: Hmmm... 2 stamps to call this page done.
75 and 77... That can't be too hard. ???

Then I looked at my 2007 catalog.
After seeing the price for a nice used 75, I guess this page
will be incomplete for some time. I can always dream...

From what I can tell though, the 75 looks just like my 76,
just a touch of red tone to it.... Makes me wonder why there
are 2 spots for the same stamp on that page.

The 75 definitely has the red tint, and the 76, at least next to the 75 doesn't look red at all (at least to me, and I'm color-blind to begin with!)

My 76 is red'er than your 76, but not as red as your 75.

Your 75 almost looks brick red.
Not that this is a philatellic term...

Inspired by this, I went to ebay -- and all I can say is what is UP with the pricing on these (esp. 76, since that is where I started)? I see full margins with pretty neat cancels for $39.99 and others for hundreds. And stamps with seriously bad margins for $100+ ... what am I missing here?

I prefer bidstart over ebay.
They seem a bit more 'grounded' in the hobby than the sellers on the bay.
You still see a wide range of pricing though. It is a buyer's market, and
I think that some sellers are just to stubborn to admit it.
