That would be me! From my trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks last week ... Postcard depicting Scott catalogue #744. Hand-stamped postmark on the back of said postcard. National parks "passport" with spaces for every national park in the US. The visitor centers must make a killing on these National Parks cinderellas. The passport is a good deal at $10. The cinderellas are $2-$3 ea! My feeble attempt at getting into a picture with Old Faithful erupting ...

Looks like the pressure has gotten to you Rileysan. It's blowing out the top of your head! But those cinderellas look great. Perhaps I should start planning next summers vacation. |

Yes I agree, the Cinderellas look really nice. Sounds like a good trip. I'm all for Philatelic sidesteps whilst on holiday so thanks for the pics and story. Londonbus1...a SCF Old Faithful ! |

I also have a NPS passport book. Those are great cinderella's, they remind me of vintage travel posters/decals. I hadn't thought of tying the image to the book with the cancellation. That is a great idea.

I do not have a beard and am clean shaven. Well most of the time.LOL! |

Quoting from Steve Wilson, author of beards.org: Quote: Growing a beard is an affirmation of manliness and masculinity. The beard itself is a physical characteristic that separates men from the boys, girls, and women. In our culture that has downplayed good old-fashioned masculinity, growing a beard shows that you are not afraid of being a manly man. You can reclaim a too-often-lost aspect of manliness by growing a beard. Maybe, since we cannot hunt lions any more...growing a beard makes up for it? |

This is actually my version of "clean shaven". You should have seen the beard the week before the trip! Quote: Rileysan is doing his impersonation of a mountain man while on vacation. It's not just a fad, it's a lifestyle! |

Whenever I'm in a new country, which in Europe is not so difficult, one of the first things that I do is to look for the GPO. Last year I spent a nice afternoon at the Dublin GPO and Postal Museum. I also enjoy taking pictures of the post offices and letter-boxes. It was very fun to see the British Kings Royal cyphers on the Irish Republic letter-boxes. I only have a question, has it to do with tolerance or with money-saving? Any Irish in the room?

Of course, the related question here is... Who sends others to the post office for you while THEY are on vacation? Yes, that would be ME! |

Quote: Any Irish in the room? From my picture you can see the reddish beard, but not the green eyes. The size of my family is a great clue (I'm the oldest of 7 children. Can you say "Irish Catholic"?) but it's my name that really gives it away ... Brian Riley. So there you have it! Oh, and make fun all you want. I have a sense of humor :) Brian |
