I am almost always a stamp buyer - in fact I don't think I have ever sold a stamp. Anyway, I got an airmail stock book at a stamp show and it seems I have multiple copies of everything. After I remove my needs do you think it would be better to try to sell the rest in a single bulk sale or put together multiple packets of singles from various countries. I would guess there are over 300 pre-1940 airmails. Fairly random geography - heavier Central and South America and no US.

I'm no expert, as I rarely sell things myself, but just observing those on this forum, I can tell you there are specialists that desire material from certain countries only.

If you don't mind spending the extra time to sort the material by country, I suspect you would get more for the stamps, than to group them together as an entire lot. More work for yourself, granted, but it may pay off for you to do it that way. If you were to sell a collector a group of stamps and they were only interested in one of several countries represented, they would probably sell off the unwanted material anyway, so you might as well do it to begin with and then you'd gain the profit from the sale.

Maybe other SCF members would have different opinions, but that would be my approach.

I'm selling stamp duplicates every now & then ...

However, when I sell stamps, I usually segregate, sort & classify them into categories (i.e. by countries, thematically ...etc) just for the sake of fun & spending time in scanning & describing them which definitely would come back with huge knowledge as well for you & the new owner (like two birds in one stone).

When I do such, I feel like I'm exiled from the present & going back in time when each stamp was issued (something like I'm using my own imaginary Time Machine!)

After I'm done, I go back to present & bitter reality!

This is the BEAUTY of this hobby!

Anyway, I would suggest that you group them if you think they might come back with a profit or selling them in singles/issues if they worth something (you can perform such a method if you are thinking of profitability).

But, if you seek learning & fun, do the way I do, & spend some happy hours in your own "Wonderland"!

Cheers

If you put them on an auction site on a stock page as an accumulation, they will sell at the lower end unless there is something striking in the lot.

If you take the trouble to write up the collection and identify the stamps clearly, I'm sure you will get a muc bette result. You must consider though that taking 12 hours to convert a $10 lot into a $50 lot may not represent a productive use of time.

I usually sell stamps on delcampe website.

For me is better to organize first all stamps by sets and You must have a catalogue on hands and check an excelent description for item with prices. The best is to begin with low prices. All this you can do if stamps are expensive, if it doesn´t you can mix them by country and get a good lot.

Regards.

If you do not really want to spend time in multiple adds group
them into a few larger listings. And if you have a pension
and are worried about income and time used to get income
this could be your way to sell as well.

If not, why not have some fun selling stamps for a change.
As many singles as you can.
