Hi to all

I have seen this post mark on British stamps,circles with squared corners, but never on a New Zealand stamp. Was the a common post mark in other commonwealth countries.

Horamkhet, Canada used squared circle cancels in the late 1800s like the one on the below image.

These are referred to as "Squared Circle" postmarks,

I am aware of usage in

South Australia
Bombay
Calcutta
Srinigar

and as above, Canada, albeit, a slightly differing design,
(see backroads post using "squared circle" in the thread title)

I know that earlier this year a collector did an article on the Squared Circles of Great Britain in the British Stamp Magazine. January 2011 pages 68-71.

Rod, squared circles were used in many places in India apart from Calcutta and Srinagar - even at Jhalrapatan
