FREE to a good home...I will send you ONE OUNCE of Machins, on paper. Here's the CATCH. These are almost ALL 1st & 2nd stamps (think blue and gold) -- so you'll be getting LOTS of duplicates of just a few different stamps. For these to be useful, I think you'd have to be a beginner-level collector. I have TWO of the one-ounce packets available. If you have 50 quality posts and would like one of the two packets, post a reply below to "claim" it, then email me with your postal address. KirkS P.S. Credit for this goes to Mcgees.org -- the SCF member who sent me a great "starter kit" for Machin collectors. These are "leftovers" that I would like to pass along to the next beginner.

Took them to the post office this morning -- one on its way to Romania, the other to Philippines.
If you would, please post a reply here when you get them.

Great Wadmalatz:
I was getting a little worried -- you're my first mailing to Romania. So I'm glad the arrived safely.
My postmaster always hand stamps my outgoing mail because he knows about collectors -- and he always uses a RED ink pad. I'm not sure why; I don't think it is by regulation, but he likes it better and it's the only color he ever uses?
I appreciate the offer for some pre-decimals; and yes, the address is correct.

Stamps featuring Queen Elizabeth II relief image -- based on the work of Arnold Machin. Quote:
The first Machin stamps (pronounced MAY-chin) were issued June 5, 1967. Since then, dozens and dozens of different values have been released and many colour changes have occurred to provide the stamp collector with the largest definitive series ever produced (and still going strong!).
[Machins are named after Arnold Machin, a sculptor who designed the portrait of the Queen used on these Great Britain stamps. Machin passed away March 9, 1999 at the age of 87.]

It is just so amazing how many different paths one can take on the philatelic journey!
It seems like the more time I spend on SCF, the more I am learning about different collecting specialties - wonderful!

Sorry to hear that John -- I mailed them on 21 July.
How long does mail from US normally take to reach you?
