In thumbing through the latest issue of USA Philatelic, I note that the 80-cent Mount McKinley Stamp will be going off sale at the end of September 2011.

In looking at my catalog, the original stamp was issued as Scott C137 on 04/17/2001, however, USA Philatelic suggests that the stamp they are selling is the 04/2003 REPRINT.

I can't seem to find where the reprinted variety (probably only change is the date reads 2003 instead of 2001) is listed in my catalog. Maybe a newer catalog has it listed (?). Is there a special Scott number assigned to this variety?

In my 2011 standard Scott, it doesn't show any other Mt McKinley but C137. Issued Apr 17 2001, Serpentine Die cut 11, self-Adhesive. There is no other listing.
I also see in the USA Philatelic in the last chance section the reprinted McKinley.
Issue date 4/03. Don't know anything about this but I guess I better buy a block just to have. My Air Mail section is complete and I wouldn't want to miss out, just in case. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I have what I think are both sheets. They both have a "2001" year date and plate #V11111. Durland only lists one plate #.
The sheets differ somewhat by the color of the cloud and the snow on the mountains. The year 2001 issue exhibits white snow and cloud. The year 2003 reprint both snow and cloud are "pinkish".
I tried a high resolution but it does not bring out the color differences. I have to use my eyes and compare them side by side.

I didn't order these yet, but if USA Philatelic is stating that this is a 2003 reprint, I assume the date would change to 2003 as well.

I have the 2003 version in sheet form, and I recall the date being 2003
printed on them, which confused me as the album says 2001. I guess this
explains it. I don't have 2003 pages in my album, so I don't know if
there is a hole or not for the reprint.

Hmm.. Interesting. Never heard of this issue before.

I know that Scott 2998 (60 cent Rickenbacker) was reprinted in 1997 after the original printing in 1995. The only difference is a change in date size...
