I collect them on a modest scale.
I'd love to have a few of the old horseblankets from the education series.
Can't afford that sort of thing though while being so involved with stamps/coins.

I have plenty of small notes though. My favorite small note being the
'original' small $1 bill... commonly called the 'Funnyback'.

I tuck a few notes and coins away when I come across them. However, I would not say I am a currency/coin collector. As stamp collectors we have a tendency to enjoy quality engravings and paper money is another way to do so.

I don't actively collect currency, but I do hold on to "odd" stuff I come across, such as older coins and bills. Back in the good old days (of employment) I would sometimes get old bills when I cashed my paycheck. I got some 1950 series $10 bills that way. I also have a few other odds and ends. The Hawaii note was found in my great aunt's things after she died. I try to save one nice minty bill when a new design comes out...

Excellent!

As I always say, Knowledge is Power

I do have several books pertaining to US banknotes as well as, a library pertaining to "other countries" banknotes. If you need an advice/explanation or have an inquiry please don't hesitate to contact me

Meanwhile, there's a sibling forum for "Banknotes" (CCF):
