Hello, I got these revenue stamps this week and would appreciate any help in identifying them and what they were used for. The middle one in the second row is not Spanish but indian. It is a stamo receipt from Bikaner State. The first one in the second roe reads Second Export Bills at the top. The first one in the third row reads Giro at the top and Hasta 2.000 R at the bottom. Other than that I know nothing. mant thanks for your help.
David

Hi David

What I found were the following:

First Row - middle stamps an 1885 Spanish 'fiscal' stamp
Second Row - first stamp a Manufacturing Tax stamp of Puerto Rico while under the Spanish administration.
Third Row - I cannot identify any of these but believe that they are from Portugal. My reasoning here is in the currency values "Rs" or Reales (sp)

Sorry I couldn't help you more.

Maybe a revenue cvollector of the forum can be more precise?

Chimo

Hello David.
The GIRO stamps of 1862 are actually some of my favorite revenues.
This information in my scan is from 1915 and the values in the columns are in 1915 French francs.
Giro stamps were for use on commercial receipts and the 'hasta' indicates the 'up to' value for which the individual stamps were applicable.
As annotated at the bottom of my scan in a combo of French and Spanish: The 1 and 5 reales are known with the surcharge REVALUED FOR THE REVOLUTIONARY JUNTA.
I love this series. Hope this helps.

The last of your stamps is the 9th series of stamps issued for application on savings receipts/certificates with each stamp having a different design.
This 9th series was re-issued in '63 and '64: the '63 with different designs and the '64 with the original designs but on tinted paper.

Again, cat values are in 1915 French francs.

Hope this helps.
