I recently picked up a lot of 24 air mail covers posted on either the last day of the 10c domestic air mail rate (July 31) or the first day of the new 5c rate (August 1). Here are a few examples:

I'd be interested in learning if anyone collects rate change covers.

Nice covers tomiseksj

There are so many cachets available for these different special event and rate change covers that I am sure one could easily make a specilaized collection out of them alone.

Are these listed in the American Air Mail Catalogue (AAMC)?

Thanks, Bujutsu. I can't answer your question because I don't have the catalog. Up until this purchase I had very few air mail covers. It looks like I'd have to purchase at least the first two volumes of the catalog to answer the question -- I'm not sure I'm ready to go there yet.

I enjoy getting air mail covers, especially from that era. I really like the 1st one from St Louis to Los Angeles. The cachet is very nice.

Thanks, stamperdude. Here are similar cachets from Springfield and Peoria. The Springfield cancel is my favorite.

awesome! Springfield is my birth city. I have an Arcadia book about Aviation in Springfield. I'm always on the look out in dealer boxes for covers from there.

I just bought an album with 120 similar rate change covers, so there must have been some interest in them at some point. I may even start looking for more!

Nice covers! I have maybe a dozen or so airmail covers but no rate change covers.

Certainly something I will be looking for in the future.

Anyone have any advise on collecting these covers when it comes to desirable traits, etc?
