and finally an image that you may have seen on the bumper in front of you and not know its origins..... There are some great free Podcasts on iTunes for anyone wanting to check out Jerry or the Grateful Dead. Just search for them there and you will find lots of choices. Have a Good One, Skilo54 |

Wow! I have seen these before and love them especially the Jerry with beard (circ. 1970's) one. The 8Th one down. Thank you Skilo.
I don't know if you know this or not but the sunflowers represent a famous song called China-cat Sunflower AND that particular design was used on some...how do I phrase this...Blotter art. They was a 4way hit of L.S.D. popular in the parking lot and at shows back in the day. Blotter art is very collectable and highly sought after. Of course you can buy full sheets of un-"treated" blotter designs. Google blotter art for more info. |

I remember back in the 80's about 20 to 30 Marines every other weekend would work security for California's stadium concerts. When rock or heavy metal concerts played we would wear stab mesh or bullet proof vests under our jackets and always had to use force at these concerts. Then we worked the Dead Heads concert with Jerry and I will never forget it. I was always on the floor in front of the stage being 6'2 and 200lbs. Anyways the crowd was all standing and dancing and started to advance on the stage. This was when we usually would have problems with control. Myself and a line of us about 10 feet apart at each post put our arms up and instantly the crowd stopped dead in their tracks. Like a flowing wave the whole arena floor just up and moved back. I looked over at my buddy and just couldn't control the laughing. This went on for the rest of the night every time they advanced up went our arms and back they go. We called them "Jerry's Sheep." |

I never saw the GD live, but I did enjoy their music. I generally prefer the hard rock & heavy metal, but a past girlfriend turned me onto the dead around 1995. There is an awesome dead head shop in Springfield IL called Penny Lane on MacArthur Blvd (aka Route 66). The place has been open for around 40 years. |

Along with Jerry a piece of my Heart and Youth Died. Once again, R.I.P. My Friend! I had the honor of working for and knowing Jerry and "the Boys" along with Mountain Girl and His Daughters for a number of years. A wonderful Human being and an awesome musician, whether with a Guitar, Piano, Steel Guitar or any other. A truly talented Man! As the saying goes. "If I have to explain, You wouldn't understand!" For any Wharf Rat's out there I'll see you at the soundboard between sets. |

How cool! WOW! To say I am envious would be the understatement of a lifetime....
Proud to be a Wharf Rat, 26 months now!
Funny coincidence, my father-in-law shared his birthday with Jerry, so two Grate reasons for celebrating yesterday!
Have a Good One,
