Hello friends,

I bought a largish lot off Craigslist some time ago and now am sorting through the stuff slowly. There're some stamps that I'm not able to identify. I'm sure there're folks here who know all about them.

Appreciate your help. I will keep posting scans when I hit the proverbial brick wall

Thanks
Ram

Hi Ram,
It is easy to post a scan and ask but so much more rewarding to find the information yourself.
I find this site useful as a starting point - http://www.stampmasteralbum.com/For...rdIndexA.htm
E.g. COMUNICACIONES is listed and takes you to info for Spain.

A Google search for that keyword also returns in similar results - http://www.google.co.uk/search?sour...ciones+stamp

Anthony.. Thank you for the link. I should have looked up comunicaciones but the others do not seem to have any english writing for me to identify; hence my query.

I'llgive a littel hint. Narrow your search to the following.

Bulgaria
Belgium
Jugoslovia
Turkey
Russia
Spain

That will cover MOST.

Looking at a Turkish flag will give you at least 3 of them :)

When I started collecting a couple of months ago, I got myself a copy of 'Stanley Gibbons how to identify stamps' which I have found a very useful little book. I dont know if there's a US/Scotts equivalent, but I'm sure you could get the SG book from Amazon or somesuch in the US.
