President Harding Perf 11

Hi to all
I know that there are several versions of the 2 cent Harding Memorial stamp and two of them have perfs of 11mm.
But how do I determine whether is is flat plate printing or the rarer rotary press.
I know that finding one is like winning the lottery with out a ticket but I just would love to know how to determine the different printings. This one has llmm perf and probably is the flat press printing, but how does one tell

I'm certainly no expert but I believe the answer you seek lies in the the design measurement.

It is the design measurement that matters the easiest way to check is to get a 10 perf which is a rotary and if the design is EXACTLY the same size then it might be one, there is only about 0.5mm difference in the design size between them, I think that is the difference off the top of my head, someone will say what the exact sizes are but I can't remember off the top of my head.

I was asking same thing not too long ago. Here is a scan of scott 610 perf 11 flat plate on left and a Scott 612 perf 10 rotary press on right. You can notice that the rotary press has a scratchier background and the design is taller (22.5mm)makes it more oval looking. The rare Scott 613 is the 612 just perf 11 instead of 10. I have noticed that a line of three rare Scott 613 was found not to long ago and was valued somewhere around $300k I believe, which is in second pic.

Thank you for that imformation, Mine is the colour of the strip of three, it is definitely perf 11 It does look oval,are you are talking about the height of the inside of the black border? as I said, I know winning the lottery without a ticket would be easier. I bought it in an old collection of about 2000 older stamps and they averaged out at 2 cents each.

Well Horamkhet, just by looking at your stamp my opinion is that it is a Scott 610 flat plate perf 11. The 3 strip is a very bright picture and lacks to show the scratchy background, but my opinion of being a 610 is because I have learned how long between the side perfs that the design must be. You can google and type in Scott 613 census to see others and same goes for the rare 594 and 596. The green line is where the design would be if was rotary press is my opinion.
