Now here is something that I can't say that I have ever found before.

First, the use of Specimen Overprints is not something that I normally associate with items of this era. I know they exist but I have not seen too many of them.

Second, I don't think that I have ever seen or heard mention of a Specimen Overprint being applied to an overprinted stamp. You can see quite clearly that it has been applied over top of the War Tax overprint.

Anybody out there in SCF land that has run across anything like this before?

SG (2010) lists a set of four values of these Ceylon War Stamps with Specimen overprints at £120 but it says nothing about the format or colour of the overprint.

Sounds like it could be a nice little stamp if ....

I shall have to run down to our library and take a look at the SG set there to see what it has to say. Thanks for the tip.

The 2- and 3-cent are red, and on the diagonal, so you are still in the game with this one. Can't say more than that, for sure.

Nice. The concept isn't terribly uncommon. Ceylon revalued KGVs are found with "Specimen" overprints. The Barbuda overprint on Leeward is another example of "Specimen" overprints on overprinted stamps.
