At first I was sure the one Rev stamp was a major error. Then I see that George was really faded or is it a inking issue?
Just took another look and the vignette does have a nice shift to it.
Nice to find the item along with them. Great find. |

I know it's not stamp-related, but, um -- could I get closer pictures of the tin? Does it close securely, well-balanced, etc? (Weird question, I know.) |

Fantastic material, transports us back......
Salve...now there's a fairly niggardly used word kinda evokes memories of Mum rubbing in ointment on a graze.
Anyone had a "stye" here? painful things as kids.

Great buy!
Yes, styes are nasty things. One of my fellow stamp club members always says that if you have never seen something before, buy it. |

Anyone notice the spelling irregularity (error?) in the printing shown on Scan 6 "Ophthalmic" and Scan 7 "Opthalmic" (without the first "h")? |

Revenuecollector, A great find! I have managed to snag a couple of oddities but nothing as odd as that.

I guess that is odd enough that you would just have to buy it - WHO WOULDN'T? That is a great find and although you will struggle trying to fit it into an ablum, it certainly will add measurably to your collection. What a great piece. Thanks for sharing it - Jeff |

What a neat addition to your collection. You've obtained the stamp attached to the vehicle it was meant to tax............fantastic.

Those types of things do show occasionally, but very few and far between. Also, when they do, the tendency is for the stamps to be badly mangled, partially scraped off or torn, or removed entirely. Finding 19th-century items with the stamps fully intact is quite difficult. The only other item I have is the one below, still sealed, and also from ebay. One of the neat aspects about it is that although two stamps are affixed, one has the cancel inverted (it also appears that one of the stamps may be violet paper and the other green paper, so both RB1a and RB1b on the same item). (and no, I have NO interest in opening the box...) |
