Here's something worth considering on this July 4th...
1. Which two U.S. Presidents died on July 4th, 1826, 50 years to the date of the signing of the Declaration of Independence?
2. What was their relationship to our founding document?
No prize, just occurred to me to throw this up before the day is over.

Modern,
Both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams dies on July 4th 1826 Fifty years after the signing of the declaration. As you know Thomas Jefferson drafted the declaration in committee with John Adams and Benjamin Franklin
Five years to the day of Jefferson and Adams passing away our fifth president James Monroe died so Three presidents have died on the 4th of July
One president was born on the 4th of July Calvin Coolidge the 30th president |

The next question is, "Why do we celebrate the birth of our nation of July 4th when the Constitution was actually written during the month of June and finished on July 2nd?" |

If you go by the Constitution, maybe you can say the birth of our nation involved a long pregnancy that followed the birth of our independence and the realization of our unalienable, Creator endowed rights. |

Greg if I'm not mistaken the Declaration may have been finished on the 2nd of July but it was on the 4th of July 1776 that it was signed, so they therefore use that day since the document wasn't "official" until signed. So that it my take on why we celebrate the Nations Birthday on the 4th of July. |

You're not wrong Cimarron. I was just throwing that in for the aggravation factor. |

LOL Greg. It was still an interesting bit of info about the declaration though. Not many know that is was actually completed two days before it was signed. |

Another interesting note is that John Adams and Calvin oolidge were distant cousins. They share the same ancestor, John Cogswell, who is also my 10th great grandfather.
