Maybe this website link is well known to some on SCF, but I just happened to come across it in my internet research and thought I'd share the link. I find it to be an absolutely fascinating look at period examples of great advertising covers that show beautiful colors, printing and engraving techniques of its day that has seemingly become a lost art:

These covers are really going up in price. Demand is definitely exceeding supply, especially in the VF undamaged covers.

What an amazing collection of covers. Did anyone check the other links on the page? Try the photographs. Fascinating.

I loved the cover advertising the stamp affixing device. The position of the stamp on the cover where the tongue is and the slogan "No more Licking" Very effective.
