I found this item in amongst some French revenues.
Anyone help pointing me in the right direction please.

I used the google image search where you drag and drop your image.
It led me to Austria where I found it is an P9 or P9B newspaper stamp.

My ratty looking mercury always looked washed out to me but checked my old Scott and it indicates that there were many shades of this stamp including gray. Have no idea whether it is Austria Scott#P9 or P9B.

Don't be so cynical, Cynical. I'll bet mine's rattier than yours.

I believe mine is a P9B type III, as are the both of yours. The outer white circle around the head is open at the top. It's closed on the other two types.
