Please Help Identify These U.s Stamps From The 1800's

we will need a much larger picture to help.

This I am sure of but I never scanned before so I'm not sure which settings to use.

For the older stamps, scan at 300 - 600 pixels per inch (ppi) resolution one at a time, crop the picture so there is not much background showing, and then use the resizing link on Stamp Community to get the file down to below 100kb file size.

Some of the old ones need a careful examination as to colour and perforations (perfs) or special marks or possible faults or flaws in the paper or even printing errors or interesting bits.

Or if all else fails maybe try using a photo site like photobucket or flicker{<SP?} and copy the [IMG/] link and paste into the body of message.

From what I can see you have an Sc A25(3c Washington)series stamp. Unfortunately without greater detailed scans of the front and back, I can not say much more. If you can find a way, please provide scans showing the front and back (with a black background)

The reason your pics are coming out so small - at least the last one - looks like you are not cutting off the white background (cropping). You can do this on your computer or use the website tools.

To do it on your computer, try double clicking on the image after you have scanned it and saved it. When it opens, if you are lucky like I was when I learned this a few weeks ago, the stamp will open up in a program that will allow you to crop off all the background (leave the perfs in the picture though).

Then you save it and use the file name to load it here again.
