This postcard from 1909 shows a very ornate stone pillar with bronze eagles and lions topped with a beautiful bronze bust of Lincoln from Nay Aug Park ,Scranton, PA.
Historians are searching for this 16 foot structure that was dedicated with great fanfare on July 4th, 1909. It was apparently moved in the 1920's. Lake Lincoln was expanded during that era and the monument disappeared--but they cannot find where it is.
Interesting---where is Maxwell Smart when you need him!

Anyone have this postcard??

Hey that's what we can do next year during the First Annual Pillar of the Community Convention. We can dig t360's backyard up looking for this Statue and then we can have a nice big hog roast in the hole that is left from all the digging.
