Is there a stamp that depicts Howard Hughes' famed Spruce Goose? I have an aviation subset of planes that land on water.

Not mine, but taken from an internet illustration. Is this not yet another example of the Spruce Goose on a stamp?

For more information on the current whereabouts of the actual Spruce Goose, check out this link:

Spruce Goose had engines on wings - not above the wings. Hope this photo comes through.

I seem to be striking out today.

The stamp illustration I posted earlier is the Dornier Do X:

Quote:
The Dornier Do X was the largest, heaviest, and most powerful flying boat in the world when it was produced by the Dornier company of Germany in 1929.

Obviously, much earlier than the Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose. Just wonder if this might have been used as a prototype for the Spruce Goose, as there are some distinct similarities.

The movie the Aviator has a great scene where the Spruce Goose takes off on a practice "taxi" run and flies a few feet off the water before landing again. That was it's only flight. Hughes was at the controls himself and it is always debated whether he accidentally took off or tried to take off. I suspect the potential lifting power was much greater on the Goose than the Dornier as it was designed to ship troops and equipment non-stop across the Atlantic(also eight engines vs six). But we defeated the U-Boat threat to our troop convoys and it wasn't needed. The Dornier is a cool looking plane for sure.
