Hi Huckles. What sort of a map are you looking for?

Many African countries have maps of their own country:

Maps of all of Africa are sometimes in symbols:

Or are you after anything with any part of an African map on it?

Happy hunting.

When I first read your post, two came to mind
(the bizarre ones of course :)

One is of a map of africa, drawn so it makes the face of an indigenous woman, a brilliant design for mine,
but I cannot recall from whence it came...very irritating.

The other was of an "upside down africa" now that one
I have cracked,

It is from switzerland, curiously, and when I first saw this stamp
it had me puzzled
Like everyone who first sees this stamp,
you think you have discovered an error
see what you think....

Sorry to hear that the lost stamp gremlin struck Phil. He's obviously been talking to the lost sock gremlin.

Thanks for the scan though. This set also comes with an overprint.

How 22crows finds these things is amazing too.

Speaking of maps, I have a nice large Peters Projection Map on the wall in my office.

It's a great conversation starter for folks walking into my office. I mention it because it really changed my perception of the Africa. The Peters map is controversial in some circles, but is supposed to give a more accurate picture of area and size of the continents.

Be sure and look at the slide "Africa compared to the Former Soviet Union"
