I picked this up at my local post office recently: I just realized that there is something wrong with the cover, though. In all of the different varieties of the Flag/Lady Liberty booklets and coil stamps issued to date, they have not offered a sheet variety of the stamps with perforations on all four sides as illustrated here! I suppose you could argue that the ATM Booklet of 18 does have a center stamp with perforations on all four sides, but it seems to me that doesn't match the die cut perforations shown on the oversized stamp illustrations contained on the brochure. Maybe there's a plan to issue these stamps (in sheet form) in the future? Or maybe someone just used 'artistic license' to create the brochure? Nevertheless, since I found it a bit interesting, I thought I'd post it.

Nice catch! I wonder if they tried the artwork with actual stamps, then realized people thought they looked "wrong" without perforations on all sides. Those people are right. Unfortunately they only changed the brochure, not the stamps themselves! |

You may be a stamp collector, if you notice errors on propaganda material :) (wink)

If you were to carefully cut the Statue of Liberty Stamp off the brochure and glue it to an envelope, I would almost guarantee it would go through the mail system.
I thought that the depiction of US stamps had to have a line drawn through either the denomination or the word "Forever".
Am I right or am I whistling in the dark? |

It seems to me that all of the press releases for stamps, when they are first announced, show the stamp with perfs on all sides. I suspect they just used the same artwork to put together this brochure. |

I just went back and checked the illustration used in the 03/12/2011 Postal Bulletin when the ATM Pane of 18 was issued and they used the same full perf illustration. At least the current Postal Bulletin about the upcoming booklet refers to the Las Vegas Statue of Liberty being depicted on the stamp. Maybe the USPS needs to address only one gaffe at a time.
As for the line through "Forever", I think that requirement holds true if the stamp is depicted in the same size as the real thing. In the case of the brochure shown above, the stamp is significantly enlarged, so maybe the line requirement doesn't apply (?) |

Personally, I'm sick & tired of seeing everything trying to be politically correct! We don't need two languages on everything. I could rant and rave and go no about this but I won't, this is not the place. I just had to say something!

fyi - the foreign language featured on the brochure is Spanish (still a foreign language, but at least one more commonly used in the USA). |

In Canada it is politically correct to use both English and French as they are our two official languages. However, is it politically correct to use English and Spanish on USA government-produced items ? or did the USA adopt Spanish as an official language without me hearing about it? |

It is a very touchy subject to adherents of both positions. I remember us going round and round about this on RCSD one time. Or I could just unsubscribe to the topic.... |
