Came across this precancel and since it doesn't look as if it matches any of the numbered precancel varieties for Buffalo, I am assuming it must be a L-Type, however, Buffalo issued several L-Types and I'm not sure which one this may be:

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

wt1,

I believe this is either a L-2E or a L-3E. My catalog states the "N.Y." of the L-2E measures 11mm long and the L-3E measures 8mm.

Hope this helps!

"N.Y." measures 8mm long so it must be an L-3E. Thanks for the information!

I wonder if one of the experts can help identify this Buffalo precancel.

It is on a 1911 postcard and I haven't been able to find a similar cancel online?

Thanks

Paul

The 2 cent PD is also a type L-3E. The inking is crude of course, but the type is the same.
I found an example of this type on a one cent Franklin just yesterday.

As long as we're on the subject of Buffalo, NY precancels, what type would this one be?

I come up with 11mm between bars and letters 3mm high.
